With sadness we note the passing of conductor, composer, arranger, educator, and mentor Cliff Colnot on February 12, after a long illness. Dr. Colnot was a powerful force in Chicago’s musical scene for over four decades as conductor of the Chicago Civic and DePaul Symphony Orchestras, as a highly successful arranger and composer, and as a selfless and dedicated educator. Dr. Colnot helped countless musicians and ensembles in ways large and small, and he was pivotal in the development of both the DePaul School of Music and the Chicago Civic Orchestra.
Along with a legion of superbly trained students, Dr. Colnot leaves behind a legacy of masterful arrangements and beautiful audio recordings to be enjoyed by all into the future.
