SUMMARY:James Ehnes Masterclass (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Open to the public (free with RSVP)\, this virtual James Ehnes masterclass is offered as part of the 2020 Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy (Virtual). \n\nThe Summer Music Academy\nThe Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy is an intensive training program for serious young string players taught by world class faculty. The Academy is a rigorous\, full-day program that runs for three weeks\, Monday through Friday\, from July 12 (orientation) through July 31\, 2020. Due to the pandemic\, the 2020 program will be offered online rather than in person. Chicago violinist and gifted pedagogue Addison Teng\, who serves on the faculties of the Music Institute of Chicago and DePaul University\, has been tapped to lead the new program as Academy Director. \nJames Ehnes\nJames Ehnes has established himself as one of the most sought-after violinists on the international stage. Gifted with a rare combination of stunning virtuosity\, serene lyricism and an unfaltering musicality\, Ehnes is a favourite guest of many of the world’s most respected conductors including Ashkenazy\, Alsop\, Sir Andrew Davis\, Denève\, Elder\, Ivan Fischer\, Gardner\, Paavo Järvi\, Mena\, Noseda\, Robertson and Runnicles. Ehnes’s long list of orchestras includes\, amongst others\, the Boston\, Chicago\, London\, NHK and Vienna Symphony Orchestras\, the Los Angeles\, New York\, Munich and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras\, and the Cleveland\, Philadelphia\, Philharmonia and DSO Berlin orchestras.
