DESCRIPTION:Open to the public (free with RSVP)\, this virtual Miriam Fried masterclass is offered as part of the 2020 Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy (Virtual). Submit your RSVP and find the Zoom link to observe the masterclass on this page just below the RSVP form about 15 minutes before the event starts. \n\nThe Summer Music Academy\nThe Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy is an intensive training program for serious young string players taught by world class faculty. The Academy is a rigorous\, full-day program that runs for three weeks\, Monday through Friday\, from July 12 (orientation) through July 31\, 2020. Due to the pandemic\, the 2020 program will be offered online rather than in person. Chicago violinist and gifted pedagogue Addison Teng\, who serves on the faculties of the Music Institute of Chicago and DePaul University\, has been tapped to lead the new program as Academy Director. \nMiriam Fried\nMiriam Fried has been recognized for years as one of the world’s preeminent violinists. A consummate musician—equally accomplished as recitalist\, concerto soloist or chamber musician—she has been heralded for her “fiery intensity and emotional depth” (Musical America) as well as for her technical mastery. Fried has played with virtually every major orchestra in the United States and Europe and has been a frequent guest with the principal orchestras of Boston\, Chicago\, Cleveland\, New York\, Philadelphia\, and Pittsburgh\, as well as with the Israel Philharmonic\, the London Symphony\, the Royal Philharmonic\, and the Vienna Symphony.
