To make sure you have a good experience in Tunes and Tunes for Teens, we want to help you make sure you have the right technology in place. If you are accepted into the program but do not have access to the computer setup described below, please reach out to us at ttt@guarnerihall.org so that we can try to help!
Technology Used in the Program
The Tunes and Tunes for Teens program will use an animation program called VideoScribe. We will use Google Classrooms as a way of communicating and sharing documents and files, and we will meet virtually using either Zoom or Google Meet.
To participate, you will need:
- A laptop or desktop computer as described under Animation Software Requirements below
- A gmail account (your email must end with @gmail.com)—if you don’t already have gmail, you can get it here for free.
- The Chrome browser on your computer—download and install Chrome (free) if you don’t already have it.
- A reliable internet connection (you’ll want to make sure that others in your home are not using a lot of bandwidth during TTT meeting times)
Animation Software Requirements
The VideoScribe animation software works on any desktop or laptop computer running Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX operating systems. It does not work on smartphones, tablets (like iPads), or Chromebooks.
We also recommend that you have earbuds or earphones if possible.
To make sure you have a good experience in the TTT program, your computer will need to meet some specifications to run the software.
For Microsoft Windows (PC) you’ll need:
- Microsoft Windows 7 or higher
- 4GB of available RAM
- A recent generation processor
- A screen that can handle 1024×768 resolution
For Mac OSX/macOS you’ll need:
- OSX 10.7 or higher / macOS 10.12 or higher
- 4GB of available RAM
- A recent generation processor
- A screen that can handle 1024×768 resolution
An internet connection is required to log into the application for the first time and also to access the online resources in the image and music library. VideoScribe is compatible on 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
If you aren’t sure whether your available system will work you can try the program with a free trial of the tool here. Again, eligible applicants without access to the right computer setup should reach out to us at ttt@guarnerihall.org so that we can try to help.
