The second piece in Debussy’s Images Book 2 is called, Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut (And the Moon Sets over the Temple That Was). The gamelan-like sounds evident in this piece fit well with the dedication to Debussy’s close friend Louis Laloy, who was himself a scholar of Eastern philosophy.
