The Pocket Philharmonic launches with an event at the Old Town School of Folk’s Myron R. Szold Music & Dance Hall. Admission is free! Just call the Old Town School for availability, 773-751-3338, or email rfernandez@oldtownschool.org.

Developed by Guarneri Hall NFP, the “Pocket Phil” is an initiative to broaden access to and engagement with classical music by bringing concerts to community spaces where it’s not traditionally heard.

This inaugural performance of the Pocket Phil will feature Sergei Prokofiev’s War and Peace Overture and Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102, performed by an 8-piece string ensemble with the father-son duo of Stefan Hersh (violin) and Alex Hersh (cello) as soloists.

The program will last one hour and will include audience interaction with the performers and a discussion session.
