NEXUS Concert 2: Signs, Games, and Messages
Friday, August 30, 2019 @ 6:30 pm CDT$10 – $40
Guarneri Hall is delighted to welcome NEXUS Chamber Music Chicago back to the Hall for its second season. With four concerts planned August 28th through September 6th, 2019, NEXUS has programmed a wide variety of chamber works, from standard classics to lesser-known pieces that justly deserve a place in the canon. Co-artistic directors Brian Hong and Alexander Hersh are joined by a roster of talented young musicians (a different group each week). Also, this year NEXUS has extended fellowships to two outstanding Chicago College of the Performing Arts students who will join guest artists on the programs.
Each NEXUS concert has a different theme. Concert 2 (Week 1) is entitled “Signs, Games, and Messages.”
Antonín Dvořák: Miniatures for Two Violins and Viola
György Kurtág: Signs, Games, and Messages for String Trio
Sergei Prokofiev: Sonata for Two Violins in C major, Op. 56
Johannes Brahms: Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25
Brian Hong, violin
Alexi Kenney, violin
Zoë Martin-Doike, viola
Alexander Hersh, cello
Victor Asuncion, piano
In normal times, we livestream most of our live concerts. In these times, out of concern for our audiences and artists, all Guarneri Hall events are virtual. Find details on how to access each event on its event page.
