NEXUS Concert 1: Call of the Birds
Wednesday, August 28, 2019 @ 6:30 pm CDT$10 – $40
Guarneri Hall is delighted to welcome NEXUS Chamber Music Chicago back to the Hall for its second season. With four concerts planned August 28th through September 6th, 2019, NEXUS has programmed a wide variety of chamber works, from standard classics to lesser-known pieces that justly deserve a place in the canon. Co-artistic directors Brian Hong and Alexander Hersh are joined by a roster of talented young musicians (a different group each week). Also, this year NEXUS has extended fellowships to two outstanding Chicago College of the Performing Arts students who will join guest artists on the programs.
Each NEXUS concert has a different theme. Concert 1 is entitled “Call of the Birds.”
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet Op. 33 No. 3 in C major, “The Bird”
Toru Takemitsu: A Bird Came Down the Walk for Viola and Piano
Gabriel Fauré: Romance for Cello and Piano
Olivier Messiaen: Theme and Variations for Violin and Piano
Robert Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44

Fellow: Gabriela Lara, violin
In normal times, we livestream most of our live concerts. In these times, out of concern for our audiences and artists, all Guarneri Hall events are virtual. Find details on how to access each event on its event page.
