Paul Huang Masterclass (Virtual)

Open to the public (free with RSVP), this virtual Paul Huang masterclass is offered as part of the 2020 Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy (Virtual). The Summer Music Academy
The Guarneri Hall Summer Music Academy is an intensive training program for serious young string players taught by world class faculty. The Academy is a rigorous, full-day program that runs for three weeks, Monday through Friday, from July 12 (orientation) through July 31, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 program will be offered online rather than in person. Chicago violinist and gifted pedagogue Addison Teng, who serves on the faculties of the Music Institute of Chicago and DePaul University, has been tapped to lead the new program as Academy Director.

Recipient of the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, violinist Paul Huang is considered to be one of the most distinctive artists of his generation. The Washington Post remarked that Mr. Huang “possesses a big, luscious tone, spot-on intonation and a technique that makes the most punishing string phrases feel as natural as breathing,” and further proclaimed him as “an artist with the goods for a significant career” following his recital debut at the Kennedy Center.
