Transitions
Tuesday, September 15, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

Giovanni Battista Viotti was a “rock star” of his day whose music deserves more contemporary attention. This witty, humorous, and sometimes experimental music falls squarely in the transition of music from the classical period of Mozart to the early romanticism of Beethoven and Schubert. This NEXUS premiere of a rarely-heard Viotti String Trio will be performed using period-style transitional bows graciously loaned by Darnton & Hersh Fine Violins. The program includes a rebroadcast of Beethoven’s Kakadu variations for piano trio as well as a new Artist Spotlight featuring violinists Rannveig Marta Sarc and Brian Hong.
