Guarneri Hall launches its 2025-26 concert season with Re:newal, the 8th Annual NEXUS Chamber Music Festival. Join us to renew and refresh your spirits through a series of three concerts that connect two world premieres with a selection of underperformed treasures from the past.
NEXUS Chamber Music is the ensemble-in-residence at Guarneri Hall. Led by Co-Artistic Directors Alexander Hersh and Brian Hong, NEXUS are driven to create unique and engaging experiences that make classical music relevant to an ever-broadening audience.
Redemption, both personal and spiritual, is a central theme in this NEXUS festival program. From the emotional struggle and resolution in Eleanor Alberga’s world premiere work for baritone and string quartet to the transformative journey of Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, the concert explores powerful narratives of hope and renewal. Samuel Barber’s haunting Dover Beach opens the evening with its own poignant reflection on human vulnerability.
Program
Samuel Barber (1910-1981): Dover Beach
Eleanor Alberga (b.1949): Glimpses and Glances for Baritone and String Quartet (World Premiere)
Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951): Verklärte Nacht
Artists: William Socolof, baritone; Katie Hyun and Miho Saegusa, violins; Brian Hong and Ramón Carrero Martínez, violas; Gabriel Cabezas and Alexander Hersh, cellos
