With sadness we note the passing of conductor, composer, arranger, educator, and mentor Cliff Colnot on February 12, after a long illness. He was a powerful force in Chicago’s musical scene for over four decades, developing the DePaul School of Music into a world-class institution and helping countless musicians and ensembles in many ways.

Guarneri Hall is incredibly lucky to enjoy the audio recording abilities of two of the best sound engineers in the business, Chris Willis and Charlie Post. We are thrilled to see Charlie win a share of this year’s Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Contemporary American Composers for his work with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The Pocket Philharmonic launched on January 19 with a highly successful concert at the Old Town School of Folk’s Szold Hall. The enthusiastic audience heard Sergei Prokofiev’s War and Peace Overture and Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102, featuring the father-son duo of Stefan Hersh (violin) and Alex Hersh (cello) as soloists.
