Grammy Award-winning Catalyst Quartet, praised by the NYT for their “invariably energetic and finely burnished” performances, presents Against All Odds — a stirring exploration of resilience, identity, and hope. The program traverses centuries and cultures and features two Nova Linea Musica commissions: world premieres by Andrea Casarrubios (Unsaying) and Derrick Skye (Flare and Answer), alongside works by Jessie Montgomery, Aftab Darvishi, Jorge Amado Molina, and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson. Also included are John Adams’ vibrant Fellow Traveler and a new arrangement of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz’s Madre la de los primores. Performed by Karla Donehew Perez, Abi Fayette, Paul Laraia, and Karlos Rodriguez, this concert celebrates bold voices and transformative artistry
