Gustav Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder is a collection of five Lieder originally written for voice and orchestra or piano, based on the poems of Friedrich Rückert. The work premiered in Vienna in 1905 to a warm reception and they have remained a part of the canon ever since. This arrangement for English horn and string quartet contains five songs:
-
- “Blicke mir nicht in die Lieder!” (Do not look at my songs)
- “Ich atmet’ einen linden Duft!” (I breathed a delicate fragrance)
- “Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen” (I am lost to the world)
- “Um Mitternacht” (At midnight)
- “Liebst du um Schönheit” (If you love for beauty)
