Sonic Arguments—at Whiner Beer Taproom, The Plant

Wednesday, August 22, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

Brian Hong

NEXUS Chamber Music Chicago is planning first-class musical events in unconventional venues in and around Chicago, deconstructing the traditional barrier between audience and performer. Their second summer 2018 performance will take place at the acclaimed Whiner Beer Company Taproom, located at The Plant, a collaborative community of food businesses in Chicago’s Back of the Yards. The audience will enjoy a virtuosic program of masterpieces for violin and cello duo performed by the two NEXUS Co-Artistic Directors in this welcoming and fun environment.

The same program will be repeated on Friday, August 24 in Guarneri Hall.

NEXUS is a collective of emerging musical artists from around the world who are committed to introducing great chamber music to new audiences.

Concert Program:

Henning Kraggerud: Variation Suite for Violin and Cello

Maurice Ravel: Sonata for Violin and Cello

Iannis Xenakis: Dhipli Zyia

Zoltán Kodály: Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7

Musicians: Brian Hong, violin; Alexander Hersh, cello
