Tamás Varga Master Class
Thursday, March 14, 2019 @ 2:00 pm CDTFree
Tamás Varga, principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic, will teach a master class in Guarneri Hall the day after his performance of premieres for solo cello, also in Guarneri Hall. The participants are students of Hans Jørgen Jensen, professor of cello at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, and Richard Hirschl, cellist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Artist Faculty at Chicago College of Performing Arts: Ethan Brown, Seoyoen Min, Jeremy Tai, Zhihao Wu, and Michael Zyzak. The public is invited to observe (no admission charge, but RSVP required on this page).
Varga’s bio states that he holds “the deep conviction that one of his fundamental responsibilities is passing on knowledge and experience to young musicians. Varga gives masterclasses throughout the world, most recently in Australia, China, Vietnam, Japan, and the USA (New York, Berkeley, Miami and Chicago).”
In normal times, we livestream most of our live concerts. In these times, out of concern for our audiences and artists, all Guarneri Hall events are virtual. Find details on how to access each event on its event page.
